Getting to Know Your Child

A visit to the dentist can be an interesting, exciting and, sometimes, even a little nerve wracking for children. With us, your child's happy smile is our passion. We are committed to providing an environment that is safe, educational and fun. Each visit at our office will be unique because we strive to accommodate each child's individuality. By creating this safe environment, we build trust with your child which allows us to promote great oral hygiene right from the start of our relationship.

We know that no one knows your child as well as you do. We also know that children at different ages, and with different experiences and conditions, express themselves in different ways. Sometimes children cry as a normal reaction to fear. Kindness and trust are the greatest contributions that we can offer for overcoming any type of anxiety they may have.

It is our goal to establish this kind of relationship not only with your child but with you, the parent. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to join their children during exams, cleanings and treatment appointments. We enjoy and are great at what we do, so why not join in the fun, too?

The First Visit

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children be seen by a dentist after their first teeth erupt or by the time they turn one. These early visits are a perfect time for parents to ask questions and introduce your child to us. Establishing a relationship early on with their dentist increases the chance of preventing future dental problems and will make your child more comfortable with us and our office.

During the first visit, we will review your child's medical history, introduce your child to the dental office in a fun and engaging way, and perform a complete exam. In most cases, your child's teeth will be cleaned and fluoride applied. We will take any necessary x-rays and discuss oral hygiene and preventative dental care.
